I got a sneak peak backstage after the Gattinoni show and spoke with jewelry designer, Gianni De Benedittis, who designed the whimsical pieces for Gattinoni's Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The winner of the Who Is On Next? competition, De Benedittis collaborated for the second time with Gattinoni designer Guillermo Mariotto to present his Palingenesis collection. Using new materials like liquid levels and hourglasses, De Benedittis significantly added an effect to the overriding theme of Rebirth by incorporating time, balance and equilibrium into his pieces. I asked him about his use of levelers in his accessories and he told me that, "water is synonymous to life" and so, to him, it made sense to incorporate the element into his collection focused on Rebirth.
